It was a busy week in the BlockDAG community. Here are the discussions worth catching up on if you missed them.

The throughput debate

Following the testnet results announcement, a lively thread in the Discord debated what "8,000 TPS" actually means in practice. The key insight from @noderunner99: raw TPS numbers are only meaningful if you also know the transaction size and the finality time. A system that does 8,000 TPS but takes 30 seconds to finalize is very different from one that finalizes in 2 seconds. BlockDAG's 2.1-second finality is the more impressive number.

The fee market question

A thread on Telegram raised an interesting question: if BlockDAG can process blocks in parallel, does it need a fee market at all? The argument is that in a high-throughput system, block space is abundant, so there's no need to bid for inclusion. Several technically sophisticated community members pushed back, arguing that fee markets serve functions beyond rationing block space — they also provide a signal for prioritization and a revenue stream for validators post-halving.

New contributor spotlight

@dagarchitect published their first post this week — a detailed comparison of BlockDAG's consensus mechanism with PHANTOM and GHOSTDAG, two earlier DAG-based protocols. It's dense but rewarding. Worth bookmarking for a focused reading session.
